January 3 – February 20, 2025
CLS III- IV (1 & 1/2 pages)
- Ask your grandparents or parents for some advice about a situation you were involved in. What happened? Could it have a different result? What was their answer? Was it helpful? What did you do afterwards? Write a page , a page and a half.
- b. Summarize a story or a book that you have read. What is the title and the author? What did you like or dislike about it? Where and when did its action happen? Describe the place in detail. If you could, would you have changed the outcome? What would that be?
CLS. V – VIII (1and 1/2 – 2 pages)
a. Create a dialogue / interview between you and the maincharacter from a book that you have read, or from the list provided. Use arguments. What would you do if you were in his or her place?
- Imagine you are Mariuca ZAHARIA, the child heroine of the
First World War. Write a journal page. Use the first person. Mention the source / bibliography used (Ex. Wikipedia)
CLS. IX – XII (2 pages)
- a. Choose a hero female or male figure from the Romanian or from the universal history, with whom you think you can identify. Write her or his story as if you were that character. Use the format of a journal or of a letter addressed to someone dear.
The chosen character can be either from the books you have read, or from the list provided by UNIFERO.
- b. You are a direct participant in WWII either in the Army or as a member of a family that had to relocate in a safer place because of . Rewrite the ending/ outcome of a story, a novel, or movie.
The passage you are rewriting should be put in quotation marks at the beginning of the paper, after the introductory sentences, justifying the choice you made. (Ex. Many times I thought that the movie…/the story…/the novel…. would have been just as/more interesting if the ending had been different. That’s why I chose… (Title of the chosen work and the author). Ex. „The Diary of Anna FRANK” or “Mariuca ZAHARIA, the girl from the walnut tree”
- Choose a representative monument for Romania’s history
to present to a visiting foreigner, or a monument from the country you live in. Justify the choice. Give information and details . What impressed you? Illustrate with your own sketch.
IMPORTANT – DIRECTIONS
- Professors will select, following an inter-classes competition, no more than 3 papers per school / per all levels – not per each.
- b. Poems are not accepted.
- c. Papers can be typed in Romanian or in English (for the international students/pupils), Arial font, letter size 12, space between lines -1.5; 1½ page and , if wanted , half page illustration made by the student.
- d. Papers sent by students or parents are not accepted.
- e. The papers will be accompanied by a short message by means of which the teacher introduces himself /herself and announces the intention to enroll the students in the UNIFERO 2025 competition, an ANNEX on the school’s letterhead, and a table with the following headings:
No., student’ name, class, work title, teacher/professor’s name, school – full address, e-mail address of teacher and student.
- f. Do not overlook the due date students’ works must be received!

The contest winners will be announced on July 20 on www.unifero.net & on UNIFERO’s Facebook platform.
The ceremony of awarding diplomas and prizes will take place during the opening of the UNIFERO XVIII International Conference, on the date and time that will be made available.
Three Diplomas and Awards (I, II, and III), as well as three mentions in each category will be granted upon the evaluation by a professional and experienced Jury.
The winning students/pupils in the local contests, their teachers and their schools will receive Certificates of Participation by Email IF qualified!
